Family Friends Of Scouting

Dear Troop 350 Families and Friends,

Each year the Occoneechee Council conducts its Friends of Scouting (“FOS”) fundraising campaign. This week at our March Court of Honor, I will make a brief presentation on becoming a Friend of Scouting. Following that presentation, I will ask everyone to make an investment in their son's Scouting experience by making a contribution.

Troop 350 provides a quality program for its scouts, consistently earning Quality Unit Awards. A quality program like ours doesn't just happen; it comes through the dedication and support of Scout leaders and parents like you as well as support from others within our local Scout council.

Troop 350 benefits in many ways from the Occoneechee Council. It helps make our Troop a success. The Council provides a dedicated professional staff, a Scout Service Center, offices, outstanding camps, program helps, activities, and training opportunities.

I realize that economic conditions may still not be ideal; however, I would like to see Troop 350 attain 100% participation this year with everyone making a contribution at some level. While the Council provides incentives (patches, coins etc.) for certain participation levels, the real payoff is observing your son's progress through Scouting; by his learning to live the Boy Scout Oath and Law in his daily life and his advancement through the ranks of Scouting. Learning leadership, service to others, and how to become a team contributor is what Scouting is all about.

Please join me in making this year’s FOS campaign one in which Troop 350 sets the bar for others to follow.

Yours in Scouting,

Rick Goodman

Troop Committee Chairman
