May Campout - Backpacking in Uwharrie National Forest

Our May campout to Uwharrie National Forest is upon us! We'll be backpacking, and working on back-woods camping, wilderness survival and hiking skills. A fun time in an awesomely beautiful forest is guaranteed! Sign up now using the online signup here.

Deadline for online signup is 5PM on Tue, April 29; scouts may signup at Asbury before the start of the troop meeting.

Cost: $20/scout plus $15/person for food - due before departure from Asbury on Friday; cash or check payable to "Troop 350"

• We'll show the scouts all they need to know and do - backpacking is very different from traditional camping.

• A scout is NOT required to have full backpacking gear. See backpacking list (View Download) in the forms section for a recommended equipment list. Please do NOT purchase gear just for this camp out.

• All food must be backpacking appropriate - freeze dried, bars, etc; no coolers or ice. We will cook as patrols, each patrol will have a grubmaster.

• NO soda or candy is allowed (should not be taken on any troop camp out).

• NO food or "smellables" (deodorant, toothpaste, food, soap, etc.) allowed in tents.

• The troop has a limited number of backpacks that some scouts may borrow. Scouts without a backpack should fit all their gear into a single duffel bag that they can carry.
